For her storytelling, I would follow Cressida Cowell beyond the edge of the earth (or perhaps through a portal into another world…!). This new series introduces aliens and travel across the universe in lieu of wizards and dragons, but nevertheless retains every ounce of her signature imaginative brilliance. What I love most about Cressida’s writing is that she never merely tells you a story, inviting you instead to engage as part of the story. Whilst her plot and characters tend towards the outlandish, at no point does this prevent you being swept up on their bizarre and perilous journey. This is first and foremost a thrilling adventure, but also a heart-warming tale of family, belonging and true heroes being found in the most unlikely of places. A book of this kind is so jam-packed with fun and entertainment for readers of any age!
