Local DescriptionCONSTANT READER STAFF REVIEW: Léa Although I know very little about video games, I enjoyed learning about this world and especially appreciated the insight into how they are developed. It is amazing how much creativity is behind it from the visuals to the music, and not forgetting the plots and puzzles! Our main character Sam is hardworking and her dedication to creating her own video game is inspiring. But she has internalised high standards to be the good daughter her community expects her to be and is very much challenged when running into obstacles. Thankfully she is surrounded by family and friends who despite their own troubles are ready to support and guide her. A delightfully nerdy story, and a very refreshing take on YA rom-coms, with great character development and representation of the Australian-Malaysian community! DescriptionFunny and romantic, an upbeat YA novel about gaming, goals and getting even from a fresh new voice in contemporary fiction. ReviewsI liked #TwoCanPlayThatGame because it was an interesting experience to read because you felt that you were in the book and could relate to Sam and Jaysen. The two both wanted a ticket to a special workshop for video game designers. Jaysen wanted to give it to her brother and Sam wanted to keep it for herself. It was a very interesting book to read because you got the feel of how hard it would be to be a video game designer. Cybele, aged 11 |
